About Hazelnut
Turkish hazelnuts are divided into two in terms of quality as Giresun and Levant.

Giresun Quality: These are the plump hazelnuts grown in the entire province of Giresun and the plump hazelnuts grown in the districts of Trabzon, Beşikdüzü, Vakfıkebir, Çarşıbaşı and Akçaabat, which have the quality of Giresun. They are the most superior hazelnuts in the world.

Levant Quality: It is the common name given to all hazelnuts produced in regions outside the production region of Giresun quality hazelnut. These hazelnuts, which are named as Levant Akçakoca, Levant Ordu, Levant Trabzon and Levant Samsun, according to the place where they are grown, although they contain less fat than Giresun quality hazelnuts, they generally have a higher fat ratio than hazelnuts grown in other countries and are superior in terms of taste.
According to a recent 5-year average of 836 thousand tons, 66% of the world hazelnut production (548 thousand tons) serves Turkey.
In other words, 76% of the world hazelnut exports are to Turkey. Hazelnut, which has a share of approximately 10-15% in our agricultural product exports, is an important product that earns an annual average export revenue of 2 billion dollars.
